On March 20th at R&D Magazine’s annual Laboratory Design Conference in Phoenix, AZ, EYP Science + Technology Principals Andy Wong and Michael Kopp, along with John DeSantis of New York University, presented “Vertical Design: Lessons From the New York University Genomics Research Lab.” The well-attended presentation explored the design of the NYU Genomics Research Laboratory, currently under renovation. Presenters discussed the unique challenges and solutions associated with creating a vertical scientific facility that is flexible, adaptable, and promotes interaction between scientists, students, and professionals, within an urban environment. EYP’s specialized expertise was also showcased when Wong and Kopp discussed numerous other issues, including designing for efficiency and scientific collaboration, expense and logistics, and the need for colleges and universities to be more creative in their approaches to creating and expanding science facilities.
