The Ann & Richard Barshinger Life Sciences & Philosophy Building
The new 105,000-square foot teaching and research facility houses the Biology, Psychology and Philosophy Departments and two interdisciplinary programs, the Biological Foundations of Behavior and the Scientific & Philosophical Studies of the Mind. The design of the building reflects the College's Georgian Revival Architectural heritage, that was established by the original campus master plan and several campus buildings designed by architect Charles Z. Klauder in the 1920's. The interior of the building, however, is reflective of spaces necessary for the 21st century science teaching and research, including collaborative discussin spaces, discovery based learning laboratories, and instrumentation spaces shared between research and teaching laboratories, and is unique in combining scientific disciplines with the humanities to support the study of the mind.
