The unique energy-use patterns of laboratory buildings present challenges for energy conservation and Energy Design. For years, EYP has designed innovative systems to dramatically reduce energy consumption in lab-intensive buildings.
A geothermal ground loop was installed in the atrium (pictured far left) to provide energy efficient, environmentally responsible heating and cooling. A unique, 32-foot high double curtain wall was designed to yield excellent thermal performance, reduce solar gain, and prevent visual discomfort, using electronically controlled sunshades.
EYP’s energy conservation measures will prevent 2,200 tons of additional carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere every year, roughly equivalent to removing 438 cars from the road annually.
