The College of Saint Elizabeth commissioned a study to assess the implications and potentials for the improvement and continued use of three core buildings: Henderson Hall, for sciences and nursing; Saint Joseph Hall, the campus union and recreational center; and Santa Maria Hall, the oldest classroom building. The EYP team updated building plans and prepared a space inventory to establish benchmarks. Instructional space utilization was analyzed to clarify scheduling requirements and challenges. Representative user groups were interviewed to develop a draft of spatial requirements. With the College's confirmation of reasonable needs and expectations for future changes in programs and faculty growth, two concept designs were prepared for each building. One design posited minimal physical change, while the second optimized program functionality. Order of magnitude budget estimates were provided for each concept design. The design studies were summarized in illustrated brochures as case statements to advance fund-raising.
