EYP provided significant energy consulting in conjunction with programming and design services to address two of the campus' critical needs while showcasing the university's commitment to sustainability. At 350,000 square feet, the new North Quad blends student life and academic spaces in flexible and innovative ways, providing improved facilities for living and learning. The juxtaposition of academic and residential spaces encourages more spontaneous interactions between students and faculty, resulting in 24/7 informal and experiential learning opportunities. By modeling 40 different systems early in the design process, we identified energy conservation measures yielding significant resource savings and reducing energy costs by 30 percent.
Features include high-performance glazing, heat recovery and demand-controlled ventilation, variable speed drives, optimized lighting fixtures, and occupancy-based controls.
